JACK Entertainment is holding its own sports camp.

For sports bettors.

The Cleveland-based gaming and entertainment company that operates JACK Cleveland Casino and JACK Thistledown Racino is offering an online training camp to educate novices on the basics of sports betting. The website, named betJACK Training Camp (betjack.com), is free and provides ample information on sports betting.

Among the range of material is a web page dedicated to a glossary of sports betting terms and a web page that breaks down how to bet on sports. The site was created to give anyone interested in sports betting a chance to educate themselves on it without making any actual wagers prior to the eventual launch of sports betting in Ohio.

The launch deadline for sports betting in the Buckeye State became Jan. 1, 2023, when Gov. Mike DeWine signed HB 29 into law on Dec. 22. When sports betting becomes a reality in Ohio, JACK Entertainment plans to offer sports betting at JACK Cleveland Casino and JACK Thistledown Racino as well as online and via smartphone.

betJACK training simulates real sports betting

The betJACK Training Camp offers camp visitors an opportunity to sign up and play for free in simulated contests that involve betting on sporting events. Most, but not all, of the contests are set up to bet on Ohio’s professional sports teams.

Contests for this week include the Cavaliers Challenge and the Blue Jackets Challenge. Winners don’t exactly win cash, but they can receive a $50 VISA gift card for either of the contests.

In the case of the Cavaliers Challenge, it involves betting on the Cavaliers’ home game Wednesday night against the San Antonio Spurs. Participants are asked to make selections on the spread, the over/under for the game’s total points, and the o/u for San Antonio’s total points, Cleveland’s total points, and points scored by the Cavs’ Kevin Love and Cedi Osman.

Similarly, the Blue Jackets Challenge involves various outcomes in the Columbus Blue Jackets’ contest with the Buffalo Sabres Thursday. Bettors are given a choice to select which team will score the first goal. Also, they can select which period will be the highest scoring, and what the final score will be.

Site visitors also have a chance to win a $50 Visa gift card this week through Saturday night’s UFC 271 event, making predictions on the bout featuring Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker.

Super Bowl-themed free-to-play contest

Of course, betJACK Training Camp is not missing a chance to offer bettors an opportunity to participate in a Super Bowl-themed contest involving one of Ohio’s teams. The betJACK Big Game Challenge presents users with the opportunity to focus on the Cincinnati Bengals-Los Angeles Rams Super Bowl LVI matchup.

The free contest includes betting on the spread, the over/under, the highest-scoring quarter, total passing yards by Bengals QB Joe Burrow, total passing yards by Rams QB  Matthew Stafford, total receiving yards by Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase, and total receiving yards by Rams receiver Cooper Kupp.

The winner of the betJACK Big Game Challenge will receive a $250 VISA gift card.

However, it’s a reasonable bet to think that JACK Entertainment believes the experience of being able to bet for free on sports months before the launch of sports betting in Ohio may be the more valuable prize in the long run.
