The Cincinnati Reds and BetMGM have agreed on a partnership deal that makes BetMGM an official mobile sports betting partner of the ballclub, including its operation of a sportsbook at the Reds’ ballpark.

The partnership comes ahead of Ohio’s scheduled universal launch date for sports wagering on Jan. 1, 2023.

“Today’s announcement marks the beginning of our plans to create the most entertaining and dynamic sports betting experiences in Ohio,” BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt said in a press release. “Through our relationships with the Reds and MGM Northfield Park, we look forward to bringing unique BetMGM content to Ohio’s passionate sports fans.”

Plans call for opening a retail BetMGM sportsbook in the area that currently exists as the Machine Room restaurant on the northeast side of Great American Ball Park. Patrons will be able to watch and wager on games in the venue throughout the year.

BetMGM will have its second MLB sportsbook

It’s only the second BetMGM sportsbook being constructed at a Major League Baseball stadium. Its sportsbook at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., opened in January.

BetMGM’s partnership with the Reds includes signage at Great American Ball Park. Permanent signage will be placed on the outfield wall, messaging will be present behind home plate, and a branded foul line will be posted during select games.

BetMGM will have its own suite and club seats at the stadium, and plans are being made to offer VIP experiences for fans, including on-field access during batting practice.

“With sports gaming coming to Ohio, the Reds sought to bring the highest quality operator to our ballpark for those fans who choose to participate in sports gaming,” Reds Chief Financial Officer Doug Healy said. “BetMGM is renowned for their expertise in entertainment and sports gaming, and we believe their brand best fits our high customer standards and will also help draw visitors to our city.”

Reds fans will have access to the BetMGM sportsbook app for a mobile gaming experience with the opportunity to customize pre-game, live, futures, and parlay wagers.

BetMGM became Major League Baseball’s first official gaming partner and entertainment partner in 2018.
